Code of Conduct and Community Guidelines
The Jaiye Room's mission is to cultivate authenticity through dance and community. Authenticity thrives in an environment where vulnerability is embraced, as it is at the core of being true to oneself. To create a secure and encouraging space for such vulnerability, The Jaiye Room is dedicated to intentionally crafting a conscious community.
We kindly ask our patrons and audience members to join us in upholding a space where respect and protection are extended to all members of our diverse community and their unique identities. Our events aim to foster solidarity and a sense of community throughout the African diaspora, emphasizing authenticity and bringing joy to our guests. We envision a place where fear and inhibitions are left behind.
THE JAIYE ROOM UNEQUIVOCALLY CONDEMNS ALL FORMS OF ASSAULT, LACK OF CONSENT, HATE SPEECH, AND BIGOTRY, AS WELL AS RACISM, CLASSISM, SEXISM, AGEISM, HOMOPHOBIA, TRANSPHOBIA, AND ANY OTHER FORMS OF DISCRIMINATION OR PREJUDICE WITHIN OUR SPACE. ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR ACTIONS THAT INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO PHYSICAL VIOLENCE, SEXUAL VIOLENCE, PSYCHOLOGICAL VIOLENCE, VERBAL VIOLENCE, AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC VIOLENCE.
The Jaiye Room maintains the right to deny entry or remove any person whose presence has a negative impact on others within our space.
